Young people are underrepresented in Tanzania’s decision-making processes. We empower them to participate meaningfully in governance and civic life by increasing their knowledge, confidence, and leadership abilities.
Program Focus Areas:
Promoting civic and voter education
Encouraging political engagement and awareness
Strengthening youth voices in local and national governance
Promoting accountability and transparency in community leadership
We achieve this by fostering active youth participation in civic life through targeted initiatives that promote awareness, dialogue, and leadership. Community forums and intergenerational dialogues are hosted to bridge the gap between young people and older generations, allowing for the exchange of ideas and collaborative problem-solving. We organize Democracy and Good Governance events to educate youth on their rights, responsibilities, and the importance of accountability in leadership. Civic education programs, supported by partners such as the Foundation for Civil Society, are implemented to build knowledge and encourage meaningful engagement in democratic processes. Additionally, we train youth leaders and establish school and community-based youth clubs to cultivate grassroots leadership and sustained involvement. To amplify young voices in shaping policy, we organize advocacy forums that address critical issues such as early marriage and gender-based violence, influencing decision-makers and promoting inclusive, youth-focused development.
